JOINED OXFORD COMMUNITY SCHOOLS

April 2019
Welcome to the Oxford Virtual Academy!

Thank you for stopping by to learn more! I was excited to join Oxford Community Schools in April of 2019. I spent many years as a teacher at the middle and high school levels and have always loved learning. This attitude helped create opportunities for me to teach in public and in private school settings, to work throughout a district in support of instructional technology, be a university instructor, and help write a published textbook.

I received my Education Specialist in Leadership and administrative credentials from Oakland University. Prior to that, I earned an M.A. in Education from the University of Michigan and a B.A. from Oakland University. I also had the amazing opportunity to be part of the Oakland Schools Aspiring Principals’ Academy, where I took part in my second administrative internship in order to learn more about being a school principal.

I value positive relationships, innovative learning, and a growth mindset and hope to carry these values through everything I do. As one of three assistant principals at OVA,  I have the opportunity to work closely with our middle school and high school teachers, students, and families. Mr. Dennis is our assistant principal of teaching and learning for Elementary students and families and Mr. Santala, our other assistant principal, handles operations and technology, ensuring that our platforms are running smoothly.

At the Oxford Virtual Academy, we work really hard to create a learning experience which works for your student. We understand that every student is different and has different needs. Although we are a virtual public school, we have many opportunities for face-to-face learning and interaction and strive to get to know each student well.

Thank you for looking us up! Please call to learn more and come see our school. We look forward to meeting you!
