August 16, OVA F22 Welcome Letter

Dear OVA Parents/Guardians and Students,

We hope you had a peaceful and enjoyable summer break. We are excited to welcome current and new students and families to the 2022-2023 school year!!

Online classes will begin on Thursday, August 25th. Students who will be attending seated classes at Oxford High School or Oxford Middle School, please note that seated classes begin on Thursday, August 25th, as well.

To ensure a smooth start, we have some important information to share with you. Please read the information about the first week of school, school safety, and the required information update very carefully:

The First Week of School Guidance

While school officially begins August 25th, please know that the first week of school is for students and families to receive their schedules, log on, get acclimated with their courses, and have time to connect with their mentor and teachers. Your schedule, mentor assignment, and login information for both online and community vendor classes will be emailed to you during the first week of school. If your student is not able to log on right away, please do not worry that he or she will fall behind. The first week is intentionally designed to give everyone some room to get situated before pacing calendars begin the following week, on September 6th.

Notable updates: Safety & Security:

The safety and social/emotional well-being of our school community remains a major focus of Oxford Community Schools. Listed below you will find an overview of safety measures we are implementing for the 2022-2023 school year.

  • An armed security guard will be present on a daily basis to help monitor our building and students.
  • Safe student arrival procedures: Students will sign in and check their backpacks at the entrance.

**Clear Backpacks are required for students taking classes at OMS or OHS

All student required Information update instructions:

Please be on the lookout for a school message later this week regarding a required information update for all families. This ensures that we have current student medical and parent/guardian contact details for communications and emergencies.

Medical Action Plan Information:

Does your student have a medical condition that we need to be aware of? Make sure you complete a MAP (Medical Action Plan) ASAP.
