August 13, OVA Welcome Letter

Greetings OVA Parents/Guardians and Students,

We are excited to begin the 2021-2022 school year with you. Classes will begin on Wednesday, August 25th. Students who will be attending seated classes at Oxford High School or Oxford Middle School, please note that seated classes begin on Wednesday, August 25th, as well.

The First Week of School

While school officially begins August 25, please know that the first week of school is for students and families to receive their schedules, log on, get acclimated with their courses, and have time to connect with their mentor and teachers. Your schedule, mentor assignment, and login information for both online and community vendor classes will be emailed to you during the first week of school. If your student is not able to log on right away, please do not worry that he or she will fall behind. The first week is intentionally designed to give everyone some room to get situated before pacing calendars begin the following week, on September 6.

Information Update: required for all families (full time, hybrid and part time):

This year, all families must complete a required information update. This ensures that we have current student medical and parent/guardian contact details for communications and emergencies. Newly enrolled families, we appreciate your time in double checking that all information in our system is correct. Please complete the online information update prior to Monday, August 23rd.

COVID-19 Precautions and Procedures message from Superintendent Throne:

“Even though over 70% of Oakland County residents 16 and older have received at least one dose of the COVID-19 vaccine; COVID-19 remains a present reality affecting our world and our upcoming school year. Upon our return to school, we will once again look to the state and local health authorities to strive forward in safely fulfilling our educational mission. Our aim is to provide a challenging education so our students may achieve their maximum potential in academics, arts and athletics. I implore each of you to embody the characteristics of being principled, caring, and open minded, exemplifying our Portrait of a Graduate.

You are our partners in education and your support will help keep our school community safe and engaged. In the absence of any enforceable federal or state COVID restrictions or mask mandates, our plans for the fall include a layered approach to safety that are consistent with the protocols that have been in place for our summer programs and camps.” Looking forward to a great year, Wildcats!

Sincerely,

OVA Administration, Teachers, Mentors, and Support Team
