    NWEA MAP Growth Assessments

As the school year begins, we wanted to make you aware that our students in grades K-12 will be taking the NWEA MAP Growth assessments in Reading and Math. These assessments will begin on Wednesday, August 25.

Please look for more information regarding NWEA MAP Growth assessments in your student’s email.

    Things to know:

  • NWEA MAP Growth assessments are accounted for in your student’s class workload.
  • NWEA MAP Growth assessments help all of us better understand your student, where their skills are, and where they need extra support. They help OVA design better supports for students, better curriculum, and inform our School improvement Plan. They also let you know how your student is doing overall in terms of important skills related to math and reading and help us design a more personalized approach to their learning.
  • NWEA MAP Growth assessments are NOT part of your student’s grade in any course but they are a part of the first unit of study. They are only to measure skills and inform instruction, programs, supports, and staff development.
  • Please do NOT help your student with these assessments. If you help, your student may not receive the support they need, and our school may not have an accurate picture of where we need to focus in terms of curriculum, instruction, and budgetary items.

Please contact us to learn more about the NWEA MAP Growth assessments!

    School Meals @ OVA:

All students are eligible for one free breakfast and one free lunch for the entire 2021-22 school year, however, the state of Michigan recommends that all families who believe they may qualify for free or reduced meals still apply in order to be eligible for any benefits that are attached to it. For OVA students that will be at the learning lab, they can pre-order a lunch through the NutriSlice app and have it delivered to them by 11:30 am. Pre-orders must be submitted before 9:30 am the day you would like it delivered. If a student intends to be at the learning lab in the morning and would like breakfast delivered to them, an order may be emailed to[email protected]before 9:00 am the day before it is needed. OVA students that do not utilize the learning lab are still eligible to receive meals on a weekly basis that would consist of five breakfasts and five lunches. If you would like to participate in this program, please email[email protected]to make arrangements for pick up.

Sincerely, Patty Silorey Director of Nutrition Services Oxford Community Schools[email protected]
