Greetings OVA Students, Parents, and Guardians,
This message contains information about lab hours next week, semester changeover, NWEA MAP Growth assessments, Spring Final Exams, and Medical Action Plans (MAPs).
First, thank you for being OVA students and families! It has been a great semester and we love working with you.
OVA Learning Labs Closed Monday and Tuesday next week
Reminder that next week on Monday and Tuesday (January 23 and 24) the OVA learning labs in Oxford will be closed. We have reached the end of Fall semester and these days are teacher work days for teachers to grade assignments and enter final course grades. We look forward to seeing you back in the lab (if you choose) on Wednesday, January 25. The secondary lab will open at 12 PM on Wednesday as usual.
New Semester Starting!
Wednesday, January 25 begins a brand new semester and we are excited to get started. We hope it will be a fantastic semester filled with memorable learning experiences. Please reach out to your school counselor or mentor with questions you may have about the new semester.
Schedules will be released just prior to the start of the new semester.
NWEA MAP Growth Testing
On Thursday, January 26 we will begin NWEA MAP Growth testing (reading and math) for grades 6-11, as part of your student’s English and math courses. Please have your student watch their email for further information.
The NWEA MAP Growth Reading and Math assessments help us to understand where a student is excelling and where they may need extra support. Oxford Virtual Academy also looks at these scores as a whole to understand where we need to strengthen our programs within our continuous school improvement framework..
These tests are not timed. Please do not assist your student. It is important that we have an accurate assessment of each student’s abilities.
**Hybrid locations may be offering NWEA MAP Growth on different days/times. Please check with your child’s mentor teacher.
Spring Final Exams
Students in grades 9-12 and middle school students taking coursework for high school credit: Spring Final Exams for online students will take place June 7, 8, and 9. Seniors, your exams will be the week of May 15. Exams must be taken in person at the OVA lab. OHS students may take final exams for online courses in the OHS lab. Please make a note so that you can plan ahead.
*If your student is ready to take an exam early, please let the teacher of the course know.
Medical Action Plans (MAPs)
If your student has a medical condition which may impact their school day, please make sure you have completed a Medical Action Plan. Please click HERE for more information. Please return all completed forms to Trevor Ross ([email protected]).
